🗓 Classroom Design
It's August and you want an accessible learning environment. This month we'll dive into tips for designing your classroom.
August is all about designing your classroom environment.
💡Here are three tips to make your classroom more inclusive…
Visually calm: neutral, simple and organized
Visual noise = overstimulation and dysregulation
Use neutral colors with only a few pops of color
Cover supplies with fabric to reduce visual overload and control when materials are "open
Accessible: easy to find, use, and replace
Organize classroom by theme, not material (ex. writing supplies also in pretend area, architecture books in blocks)
Label bins and shelves with photos so your students, families, and subs understand the system and use it
Decor: made by teachers and students
Students learn from seeing your handwriting, design, organization, and errors!
Balance materials you prep, like the name signs, with student-made materials, like this number line.
